Thrust Group 4

Thrust Group 2 seeks to promote national and international dialogue and consideration of governance mechanisms for the military use of autonomous robots.  The thrust group is composed of an inter-disciplinary group of experts from the fields of engineering and technology, military policy, public policy, ethics, and law.

Through publications, research grants, workshops, conferences and other mechanisms, the thrust group is fostering an inclusive and open discussion of policy options for governing the use of military robots through diverse mechanisms and instruments such as military rules of engagement, international agreements, and various soft law mechanisms such as codes of conduct.

Presentation

The initial activity of the thrust group is the preparation of a multi-authored law review article on governance options for national security applications of robotics.
