John Carter McKnight is Adjunct Professor of Law at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, and a PhD student in Human and Social Dimensions of Science and Technology. His research focuses on the negotiation of governance in online spaces and the political anthropology of online communities. He teaches graduate and undergraduate.

Formerly a corporate finance attorney specializing in representing underwriters in initial public offerings for high-technology companies, he has been Prelaw Services Coordinator at ASU, as well as an officer and director of nonprofit organizations involved in space exploration education and advocacy.
